Vacation Vernacular: Terminology You’ll Need To Know Before Booking Your Honeymoon

Unless you’re planning on cruising around on your honeymoon, chances are you’ll resort to vacationing at a resort. Most likely you’ll want to secure one with an impeccable reputation and an unforgettable ambiance, but there’s a few other things you should know before your book your room, especially if there’s no room for “error”

Keep in mind, that even the most swank establishments have “levels” of luxury, and each has it’s own rating system and terminology. The following however are universal definitions for each class and category:

1. Suite: The sweetest of the selections but perhaps not the sweetest of prices, with the fee generally being among the priciest. This luxurious room features a separate living room and maybe even a kitchenette. It also frequently has more than one sleeping quarter.

2. Junior Suite: A sweeter deal at least financially. This room retreat offers extra large accommodations with one bed plus an additional sitting and entertainment area.

3. Deluxe Room: Spacious, comfortable and still elegant. A standard double room with a king-sized bed.

4. Oceanfront: One of the most romantic rooms with a view. This scenic retreat offers an unobstructed panorama of the beach and water.

5. Ocean View: Allows for a limited view of the beach and water. Direct ocean view is often “obstructed” by building, restaurants, gardens, and streets.

6. Garden view: Often sounds more picturesque that it actually is. Generally the least costly room. Usually offers a view of the parking lot, town streets, resort garden (hence the name) or interior courtyard. Nevertheless, remember, it won’t make much of a difference if you are not easily disturbed by noise(s) or don’t plan to spend any significant time in your room.
