Getting married isn’t the end of the world, nor is it the end or your life. It’s simple the end of your search for finding Ms. Right, and a much coveted status (despite the jabs and jokes)…and the beginning of a whole new wonderful world. Just think about how “cool” it was to brag about your girlfriend. Now she’s going to be your wife. And, while love should be intoxicating, your guys’ night out shouldn’t be. The last thing you want is to wake up hearing bells (before the ceremony begins) and suffering from guilt from the potentially less than reputable things you said and did. In fact, your bachelor party should be a time of celebration, a celebration of love and friendship, both the one you are embarking on with your soon-to-be-spouse and the one you’ve has with your buddies.
Remember, while it’s your best man’s duty to set up your soiree, it’s up to you to let him and your groomsmen know your intentions. No doubt your “BIG NIGHT OUT”, before “The Big Day” is a perfect excuse for a guys get together, but remember, a it’s suppose to be a night of bonding, not a night of bondage….and you don’t need to get whipped to prove you’re not.
Some practical yet still enjoyable ideas that won’t make your bride or Blackie Lawless blush.
1. Hook, Line and Sinker: Want to have a wild night…consider having a night in the wild. Rent a cabin in the woods and catch some waves and some fish. Bring some hearty grub and have an outdoor cookout that will bring a whole new (and improved) meaning to getting “sauced”. Bring a deck of cards, some movies and just let lose with the guys.
2. Strike Up Some Fun: How about a bowling party. You can even have a bowling for dollars or gift theme. The guys can put money in a pot and every time the groom bowls a strike or wins a game, he gets what’s in the pot or a designated gift (for him and his new bride) from the bunch.
3. Go Clubbing: Health clubbing that is. Many resorts and spas today have just as many amenities for men as they do women. From mud baths, to massages, this is one royal treatment guaranteed to rub you the right way.
4. Make A Court Appearance: From tennis courts, to professional ball courts, consider scheduling time and space for some courtside fun. Some places even offer the option of food and drinks as part of a party package.
5. Bench Marks: Be a good sport and join the guys for a journey across your local area to visit the various (local) ballparks and arenas. Consider securing tickets or renting box seats for a game or two.
6. Amuse Yourselves: Think about spending a day at an amusement park or an indoor amusement arena. Indulge in “boyhood” fun and frivolity including roller coaster rides, shooting hoops, playing pool, pinball and video games, a veritable technological paradise for the groom and his friends.
7. War Games: How about a paintball party or a laser tag party. The perfect opportunity to run around, grunt, and release testosterone.
8. Gear Up For A Good Time: How about checking out a local either bike or car show, modern, or classic (vintage). Head out the (Riverhead or local) raceway and get in on the action.
9. Get Personal: Your buddies may have similarities, but they also may have differences including different time schedules. Consider spending time with each of them individually in lieu of a bachelor party and sharing a special activity/memory with each. This will also give you time to fill the gap while your future Mrs. is out “perfecting” (every detail) of your special day.
10. Canoe, Canoe: How about a canoe trip, a knack adventure, or white water rafting. Make your bachelor party a field of streams.
11. Bright Lights, Big City: Hit the Strip, the Vegas strip, if you can…maybe even ask the girls to join you. Not much of a “gambler”? No need to be, between site seeing, shows and restaurants, there’s plenty to do.
12. Have A “Killer” Party: How about going to a murder mystery dinner theatre. You can even seek out a local company that will tailor your party specifically for you.
